SANGWE - Global Stage

Inspired by the French singer-songwriter Baby John originally from Burundi, Sangwe project aim to be a platform for spreading peace and social justice and inspire change among people around the globe. Since 2000 Baby John toured the concept in many countries including Nepal, France, Burundi, USA, Kenya, Mozambic, Belgium, Egypt, Sout Africa and many more. Music has the ability to bring people together like no other force on earth. It has the power to transcend language barriers, to connect people of all ages and backgrounds, and to create a sense of belonging. Nowhere is this more evident than in the way music can bring joy and kindness to diverse communities.

There is something special about creating music together. It is a moment of pure happiness that can fill even the darkest of days with light. Research shows that music gives us a brain boost and improves cognitive function and happiness. In a world that often seems divided and angry, music reminds us that we are all connected by our humanity. By sharing the gift of music with others, we share the priceless gift of hope and happiness. The SANGWE Project curates cross-cultural collaborations among musicians from all around the world. Through these musical dia-logues, we aim to foster cultural connections among the people living in different home challenges. Inspired by SANGWE Project, the French singer-songwriter Baby John originally form Burundi developed it as a platform to spread peace awarenes and inspire change among people of different cultures.

SANGWE engages its stakeholders with a series of musical performances and recordings featuring musicians from the global scene. These musical experiences will inspire our audiences to learn more about their ecosystem and their neighbors. With the help of a multidisciplinary group of academic and non-academic experts (instrumentalists, producers, bookers, distributors, performers, etc.) the SANGWE Project will roll out a number of educational initiatives including school curricula and a TEDxRoho conference. Partnering with GMA and global Music Business entrepreneurs, the Project will train a new generation of music makers to help bring about hope and spread peace and love within the challenges we face along the World. And through a devoted Music enterprise platform, SANGWE will empower artists to implement their local SANGWE movement to help us move towards a better world.
